Professor Dan Butler started his training in Danzan Ryu JuJitsu in 1985 with Prof. Gene Edwards and Jess Green at the Calistoga JuJitsu Institute. He moved to U.C. Davis after graduating from High School, and went on to earn a Ph.D. He has had many interesting assignments during his tenure as an FBI special agent. In his capacity as a Federal Agent during the past 24 years, he has instructed hundreds of law enforcement personnel in firearms, defensive tactics, and SWAT operations. He now runs Paladin Tactical US, a specialized training company for law enforcement and citizens. In 2016 he was recognized as a Rokudan and Prof. by the Pacific JuJitsu Alliance. Under Craig McCoy, Prof. Butter also earned a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Ed Parker’s Kenpo Karate and studied Cabales Serrada Escrima. He is rated as a Master Combat Knife Instructor in the Concrete Warrior Knife Society. Prof. Butler ran the Fairfield Budokai (formerly the Davis Budokai) since 1992, promoting several students to Black Belt. In 2016 the CJA awarded him the rank of Godan and title of Professor. He currently serves as the on the CJA Board of Directors and is the Law Enforcement Director. Dan lives in the SF Bay Area with his wife and two children.
